Pretty Little Liars Game Charles post thumbnail image

This week saw the return of Pretty Little Liars, season six. After the Big A Reveal in season 5, we were pretty anxious to find out more about the mysterious Charles. The first episode of the season begins with a short and snappy, yet completely informative recap.

It picks up right where it ended in season five, except this time we see that another girl has been trapped there. The markings on the wall indicate that she has been there for much longer than the liars and she is also wearing Ali’s yellow top.

The girls re-enter the doll house and are gassed on their return. They then wake up in covered sheets in what looks like a morgue. Mona is back to playing Ali, but only for the cameras – only for Charles. The girls are then sent to their rooms to find their ‘surprises’, we hear brutal screams and the episode jumps forward to three weeks later.

We see a very attractive, rugged side of both Ezra and Caleb as they stand by watching a police report appealing for information on the missing girls. Ali recites a speech for the cameras claiming her love and worry for the girls, and it seems genuine.

Andrew is missing and he is the main suspect for the kidnapping of the girls. I don’t think he is, at least I hope not as he is such a new character that the shock of finding out who Charles really is would be completely wasted on him.

Back to the girls again and we can hear them, but not see them. The mystery girl is delivery food to them on trays and they think it’s Mona. All we hear is their screaming for her.

Back at Ali’s house there are police inside trying to lure Andrew there. Jason, being discreet, takes the back entrance into the house, walking in and almost being shot by Toby. I laughed, mainly at Jason’s reaction to it.

Toby, Caleb and Ezra stage a distraction from a fake -A to help Ali escape Tanner’s protection and find the girls on with their help. The boys all teaming up to help is just adorable.

Once we see that Ali is on her way, it switches back to the girls who have been made to reassume the looks they had at the start of the show (in the pilot episode). They are forced to unpack Ali’s things and prepare for her to be trapped in the dollhouse too. Meanwhile, Mona is trapped in a deep hole somewhere within the building.

As the girls unpack the things, Spencer discovers a toy that she believes belongs to Charles. It has the initials C.D on it. Spencer figures that this stands for DiLaurentis. Aria discovers a message reading “He’s going to kill me, M” within Ali’s wardrobe. I think this could have been written by Mona when she was staying in the room, or maybe Maya had been kept in there before she was murdered?

Spencer hatches up a plan and tells the girls about Charles’ surname with her Etch-a-Sketch skills.

-A or Charles somehow made Ali’s car break down on the way and hijacked her roadside assistance call for help, forcing her to change into that same yellow top that the other Alisons were forced to wear. How many of these tops does -A own?!

Ali now has to wander through the woods until she finds where she is supposed to go.

Caleb and Ezra sense that something is wrong and discover that she has been forced to leave her car, she left her shoes in the direction that she walked as a clue. Clever girl.

The girls head into Charles’ room through a vent of some sort, discuss -A’s soul and then threaten to burn all of the stuff that belongs to Charles (or whoever is behind the camera). The next thing we know the room is catching fire too quickly and the girls are trying to put it out, they pull down one of the curtains to find -A/Charles/whoever else it could be staring back at them. He then disappears and sets the fire alarm off. A bit strange for someone that tortures the girls. Was he just protecting the belongings or the girls too?

When the girls are facing -A at the window, there is another -A still sat down watching the security footage. Maybe Andrew and Charles?

Ali hears the alarm and alerts Caleb and Ezra, they can see the building and head over to help.

The girls find Mona before making their way out of the building.

Ali and the guys are on the other side of the door and when the girls escape it’s a big reunion of all the couples. So cute!

The other girl is discovered and it’s Sarah Harvey, the girl that went missing when Ali did. That means she’s possibly been in the dolls house for years?!

The episode closes on Emily asking Alison who Charles DiLaurentis is, she looks at Emily with a puzzled expression and the credits roll. I then sat staring at the screen in anger and frustration. I didn’t want the episode to end,. I needed more.

We shall all just have to wait until next week. Let’s hope we see Charles’ face and if Andrew plays a big part in this I will be highly disappointed as he is too new to be a ‘big reveal’.

This had better really be a #SummerOfAnswers and not a #SummerOfMoreLies.
